Hello everybody! I have just returned from the adventure of this week....Lake Powell. We left on Tuesday night and were gone until Saturday night. Uncle Wes and Aunt Ruth Burr were having a family reunion for their children and grandchildren and invited my dad to come along to drive the boats and teach them all how to do the whole Lake Powell experience. I am still not quite sure how I fit into the whole picture, but I feel very luckey to be an extra added invite to the whole party. It was an absolutely beautiful trip! The red rock, blue skies, and glassey green water were amazing! Although, a Lake Powell trip wouldn't be complete without a few adventures, the first day was the stormiest day I have ever seen at Lake Powell, the wind and waves were out of control. So we actually just stayed in the dock the whole first day. Once we got out on the Lake, things didn't quite settle down. We ended up making 2 trips to the hospital! It was crazy! Aunt Ruth was having weird back spasms (sp?) and then Nicole (Kimzey) get a really bad burn from bacon grease being spilled all over the front of her leg. It was all blistery and grouse. And while they were tending to Nicole at the hospital, her husband Kyle passed out too from the whole hospital experiance. It actually was pretty funny, once everyone got back. Through out it all, we had a very good- humored group who was able to enjoy it all, despite the misfortunes. My favorite part of our emergecy boat rides was when the main radio at the Marina radioed back, "are you sure this is an emergency...Squeaky Turtle?" and we all just burst out laughing. We learned that when you radio in from the boat for a medical emergency, they don't take you very seriously when the name of your boat is "Squeaky Turtle". I'm still not quite sure who made up that name. I'm sure you all will not be suprised that dad named the Houseboast, "Water Zeplin". Well all in all, it was a great trip, lots of skiing, swimming, hiking, playing games, and we even got to watch Superman one night on the top of the house boat with dad's new mammoth computer. I have a new love for Wes and Ruth's family and feel very blessed for the opportunity to have joined them!
